Photo Dump 9: Wyoming? Why not Oming?

On our way north from Rawlins, we passes the Continental Divide for the first time.  Also, some amazing rock formations.  We have acquired, on Molly's Kindle, a boom called "Rising From the Plains" which talks about the history and geology of Wyoming.  Of course, like the dork that I am, I am enjoying it so far.
Oh yeah, did I mention the Great Divide?  This crossing was not into the Pacific drainage, buy into the Great Divide Basin.  A giant bowl of desert thirty miles across in this section.  (It's larger part us more than a hundred miles of desolate wilderness.) We dropped 800 feet to the floor of the basin.
This was one of the four structures we passed in the basin. It used to be a place to get food and for bikers to camp only a few years ago.  No longer.
I love taking panoramic photos.  You can get a feel for how empty the place is.
And passed the divide again on the way up.  Only a few hundred feet on this side.
It seemed an appropriate choice of beers.  I'll be damned if it wasn't tasty.
The view from the gas station where we camped that night.
