From our humble, behind a gas station campground in Muddy Gap we braved on to the modern ghost town of Jeffrey City. Not a whole lot left. In fact, just two things. A great old bar and cafe called Split Rock that serves enormous breakfasts, lunches, and dinners.
And Byron. Who makes pottery in the building across the street. Very good pottery, in fact. We bought two nice little mugs to ship home. (The holes in the pot were created by driving a golf ball through it before firing. He also does the same with a handgun. )
A set of mugs that severely tempted me. But we are already low on room.
Byron's place. He even used a grinder to put the footprints on the bottom of the mugs we bought.
A great dinner at a KOA.
Another great sunset.
Some sort of mountain lupine. Most had already gone to seed but I found this one about 8000 feet up on the way to the Divide.
We have gotten very lucky with storms on this trip. This one missed us by half an hour, and dumped a bit of rain back on Dubois and road up to the pass, but fortunately only after we were most of the way up.
From storm to clear skies.
Great divide crossing three, followed by 3000 feet of descent over 20 miles.
So we could get to the Tetons.
