Day 65: Last Day, Hillary Trail, New Years with Andrew

Quick Recap:

On Boxing Day, we left the Golden Bay, and headed North to Auckland.  Molly's parents were arriving, and we thought it'd be good to be up there to meet them on the 2nd.

Until then, we hiked in a LARGE park West of Auckland, on a proto-Great Walk called the Hillary Trail.  (It will probably be a great walk soon enough, but there are no huts on it yet, so for now it's just a nice loop trail.)

Four Days of hiking, in amazing weather.  We met an incredibly nice Kiwi named Simon, who was hiking the trail.  He lives in the area, and was giving the whole thing a go.  We first started talking to him because he was wearing a Red Sox hat (he had studied for a year at MIT on an MBA/Entrepreneurial program) and by the end of the trail, he offered us the use of his family's vacation home on the West Coast of the South Island.  Which was pretty awesome.

After we finished the trail, we stayed for two nights with a Couch Surfing host, Andrew, and his dog, Four-Legged (no joke.  Pretty cool dog name, huh?)  We were there for New Years, and celebrated by eating our first lamb in New Zealand, and watching a phenomenal sunset.

Thanks for your patience, all of you.  I'll try to get some more posts up as quickly as possible.

Good Bye, 2015.  Hello 2016.
