As if the rain had never happened, Saturday was sunny, breezy, and lovely.
Saturdays are Market Days in Takaka, and since we wanted a chance to get back into town, we swung by. Right now there are a few booths selling greens and citrus; normally we would be overjoyed to get cheap greens and citrus, but since those are the two things that are growing around the yurt right now, we don't need more. There is also a music tent, where people can busk for tips at the market. Usually it's occupied by teenage girls singing pop songs just enough off key to make you wince, but today it was this guy.
He plays a strange electric guitar with built in beat-box, and occasionally plays recorder over the beat box as well. We found out he's a bit of a regular at the market, and usually plays last. He's actually quite good, if his music choices (Scarborough Faire followed by Kung Fu Fighting, followed by When Doves Cry) are a little odd, and he himself looks like he's practicing John Wayne's squint the entire time.
Molly is still not impressed.A few more shots of the guy playing guitar. I didn't take too many pictures today.
When we got back, we had a pretty slow day and just started planning for when Molly's parents arrive in Auckland, planned for the of January. We made some progress, including planning what we would do until then. It was decided that, because Takaka and the Golden Bay have treated us so well (and Wendy and Carol seem to like us so much) that we will simply stay on for the time being. There is hiking to be done around here, and the living is so lovely, relaxing, and easy, we're not quite ready to leave. Both of us have never slept so well, and we're starting to really enjoy yurt life.
