Day 83: Wine Tasting around Queenstown

On a cloudy day that constantly threatened rain, we did something all good visitors to New Zealnd should do.  Go drink so wine.  The valley leading down from Queenstown is known for Pinot Noirs, among other wines, so we went and checked it out.
But more important than that, one of the wineries had Petanque!  I love all sorts of "Throw one object at a target object" games, so I was pretty chuffed about this.  And even had some artsy photos to show for it.

But seriously, the wine was good at the first two wineries we went to.

Not to mention the now-standard ridiculously pretty New Zealand scenery.

The last winery we stopped at, and by far the biggest, was pretty poor.  Bad service, bad tastings, not free tastings, no one seemed to care.  To be fair, though, they were setting up for a music festival the following weekend.  And this was the line up:
My God.  I have figured it out.  New Zealand is where acts that were big in the 80s and 90s go to die!  Or even better, not to die, but to live on!  Forever!
