Day 102: A goodbye, a Train out West

One last photo, before we go:
Molly and I were headed west to a region around the city of Orange, in New South Wales.  Our plan was to volunteer through the WWOOF program on a vineyard called Wallington Wines during their harvest and vintage.  And, of course, to drink as much wine as possible.

But first we had to get there.  Which involved a three and a half hour train ride followed by a three hour bus ride.  Almost immediately upon leaving Sydney, and the coast, the terrain got dryer.  Remarkably so, in fact.  We took the train through an area called the Blue Mountains, which even from the windows of the commuter rail looked incredibly rugged.

And only an hour later, the terrain started looking more like this:
Or this:

After switching to a bus at Lithgow, it was a matter of riding through what seemed like endless rolling hills, each a little dryer than the last.
But all that dry, and the deserts even further West than us, yielded amazing sunsets.  This is not the last one we'd see.

We arrived, travel weary, but ready to drink some wine, around 9PM at Wallington Wines.  We had a quick dinner, a glass of nice Prosecco (not from the winery) and went to bed.  Work starts the next morning.
